Talin Kashian

Owner & Founder

I began teaching the HSC English syllabus 2012 and immediately fell in love with tutoring. Before long, I completed my Master of Arts specialising in English Literature at Macquarie University. Eager to make meaningful contributions to the development and success of Sydney’s students, I then established Study Sphere.

Study Sphere began with clear goals in mind: I wanted to provide high quality services that were one-on-one and tailored to the students we’re working with. We’ve never been an organisation that splits the tutor’s attention between multiple students or teaches out of an off-the-shelf exercise book, and we never will be. To truly thrive, students need to combine the development and education they gain at school with the patience, persistence and undivided attention that only a personal tutor can provide.

While I’m currently unable to take on any new students, my passion for teaching is as strong as ever. I still think about every student who works with Study Sphere as if they are one of mine. I want our students to be confident, passionate and inspired. I want them to know how to find and understand the answers, not just how to pass their tests. Above all, I want them to one day leave school ready to take over the world.

English, Mathematics, Tutoring for Special Needs Students

I’m currently in my seventh year of teaching English and Maths to primary and high school students. Being a recipient of English and Maths private tutoring during my high school years has inspired me to give back to students in a one-on-one setting. My background in Psychology and disability care has also encouraged me to extend my services to special needs students.

I strongly believe that tutoring is more than helping a student pass a test or write an essay. It’s also about ingraining skills, habits and techniques that will help them to learn, think critically, and solve problems throughout their school years and long after. This will help to ensure they’re well equipped to go out into the world and achieve great things. My goal is to attend to each student’s academic needs so that I can help them get there.

Mathematics, Sciences

I graduated from the University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering (Hons) and proceeded to work for a well renowned beverages company as a Quality Assurance Engineer. I have been a private tutor for more than five years and the passion in making my students achieve their very best potential is what has kept me drawn to it. I try to help my students find a newer perception towards concepts and areas they previously found difficult. Knowing that no single approach is the right one for all individuals, my lesson plans are tailored according to what is required and who I am tutoring.

In my free time, I enjoy drawing and reading and I have also recently discovered that I can cook, so I have been trying that as well. I am grateful to be given the opportunity to invigorate a renewed passion for areas in Mathematics and Sciences that were first deemed impossible.

English, Legal Studies

I graduated from the University of Sydney in 2011 with a Bachelor of Health Science/Masters of Nursing. During my time at Sydney University I was accepted into the Golden Key International Honour Society, which is open to students whose academic results fall within the top 15% of their cohort. I have been working as a registered nurse in aged care since 2012, and in 2013 I started studying a Bachelor of Laws degree at Macquarie University. In 2016 Macquarie University awarded me as the highest achiever in an International Environmental Law unit. I expect to complete my Bachelor of Laws degree in early 2018 and hope to continue academic studies in both law and nursing in the future.

I believe that when teaching it’s important to explain complex information to students using words and examples that they can understand. It is also about providing students with the framework needed to be able to critically evaluate topics and consider their practical significance in day-to-day life

All students have limitless aptitude. With persistence, practice and guidance in the right direction they will improve and head towards their goals.

My role is to work in partnership with the students to help them understand and recognise the toolkits that they can use to unleash their potential. Through coaching, and providing positive reinforcements and encouragement, the students will build confidence in their knowledge.

Tutoring during my higher school years, throughout university and beyond has taught me the skills needed to work with each individual and get the best outcome. These skills have also helped me succeed in my 25 years of professional life as a Program Manager managing large IT multi-million-dollar programs for blue chip companies.

My love for teaching and growing young minds have now led me back to the path of tutoring.

I am an Engineering graduate with first-class honors, as well as a master’s degree from one of the world’s top-ranking Universities, the National University of Singapore (NUS). I have more than 15 years of teaching experience ranging from high school to tertiary students. With my in-depth knowledge of the curriculum for the Australian Secondary School Certificate (HSC, VIC etc) and IB Diploma, and alongside my experience with the Cambridge GCE O’Level and A’Level, I believe I will be able to help draw out the full potential of each student I work with.

I have the ability to teach a culturally diverse student population, while developing individualised plans for students at different learning levels. I also pride myself on my ability to improve student numeracy and maths levels through innovative activities and lesson plans. I possess a strong track record in improving test scores and teaching effectively.

I am a good listener, a good motivator, and caring, especially to those who are having difficulty in coping with their studies. “Nurturing Talent – Sharing Success” is my personal motto while transforming the dreams of my students into reality.

I strongly believe that each student learns in a unique way. My role as their tutor is to provide a warm, encouraging, and stimulating learning environment; to offer new ways of thinking and new ideas; and to help each student discover curiosity, passion, and a love of learning.

Ever since I can remember, I’ve had a passion for language and communication, and how it shapes our lives. This has inspired my career path as an opera singer, director, actor, and teacher. In my final year of high school I concluded studies in Shakespearean performance through Trinity College London with High Distinction, before graduating high school with an ATAR of 98.70. I also completed a Bachelor of Music (Honours Class I) at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Since then, I’ve spent time working as a freelance performer, English tutor, and Drama tutor. I also recently founded an opera company, The Cooperative, which aims to combine music, theatre, and social justice.

Over the past seven years, I have immensely enjoyed working as a tutor and music teacher. I’ve taught my students in schools, studios, groups, and private one-on-one settings. I absolutely love working with students to discover and explore their own passion for learning, and am excited to continue this journey.

I also attended the Student Leadership Conference in 2017.

I consider myself flexible in accommodating the needs of my students and strive to identify and address their gaps and weaknesses.
